TEFL TESOL Certification in Buenos Aires Minimize

Become a certified English teacher. The TEFL / TESOL certificate is a four week, 120 hours intensive course, teaching students how to teach English as a second language. The course runs, full-time over 4 weeks. TEFL / TESOL certificate course hours are typically: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with one hour for lunch, Thursday and Friday - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by teaching your 1 hour class during the afternoon. Once you get to the course, you will be given a detailed course timetable and your teaching practice schedule.

All of the Argentina TEFL - TESOL teacher trainers on the course have been involved in teaching and teacher training for many years. They are all still active teachers and therefore are fully aware of the classroom situations facing EFL teachers today.  Aside from the required accreditation bylaws, the program also requires that our trainers to be annually certified, kept abreast of all ESOL/EFL/ESL methodologies, and attend training workshops and international forums.

TESOL TEFL Course in Buenos Aires Minimize

The course runs, full-time over 4 weeks Monday Friday. The first two weeks are comprised of 6 hours of classroom work each day, with two 15-minute breaks and one hour for lunch. The final two weeks are spent on lesson planning and teaching practice. On the first day of your course you should arrive for orientation at 10 am. At this time you will be given a detailed course timetable.


Difference between TESOL, TEFL and CELTA Minimize

For all intents and purposes TESOL and TEFL mean the same. TESOL is more commonly used in N. America and TEFL more commonly in the UK. There is a slight technical difference since TESOL refers to all learners whose first language is not English, including ethnic minorities living in this country, whereas TEFL refers only to "foreign" students. The CELTA is a TESOL certificate course developed in the UK,. It was the first course of this type and because of this it is very widely recognized by name.

1. What is the minimum age to attend this TEFL / TESOL course in Buenos Aires?
We  ask that students be 18 years of age or over.

2. Is there an age limit?
There is no upper age limit for our TESOL / TEFL Certification courses. Some employers may have a preference for younger english teachers while others tend to prefer more 'mature' teachers. The majority of our trainees are in their 20's, 30's and 40's.

3. Is  TESOL course only for college students?
No, our TESOL / TEFL Certification courses are not only for college students. We have students of all ages and you do not need to be a college student to participate in any of our programs.

4. What is a TEFL / TESL certificate?
A TEFL / TESL (Teaching English as a Foreign / Second Language) is an internationally recognized qualification that enables people/english teachers to Teach English as a Foreign or Second Language.

5. What qualifications do I need to do the TEFL / TESOL course in Buenos Aires?
The TESOL/TEFL course entry requirements are as follows:

-Minimum age of 18 years old
-High school diploma

-Good working knowledge of the English language

6. Do I need to speak British English or North American English?
We regard English as a global language and therefore welcomes applicants from all native speakers (as well as non-native speakers with a proficient level of English). There is no preferential treatment for, or discrimination against, trainees because of origin, accent or pronunciation.

7. Do I need to be a native speaker of English?
No, but you do need to be able to demonstrate a very good command of the English language, have an internationally recognized qualification (TOEFL or Cambridge Proficiency), or attend a personal interview.

8. Do I need knowledge of other languages?
No. Our TEFL / TESOL course in Buenos Aires uses the universally accepted communicative approach to teaching, where English is the only language used in the classroom.

9. How long/intensive are the courses?
The TEFL is a 4-week, 120hr course and is very intensive (from morning to evening). We have tried to arrange the course so that you will have the weekends free to relax and explore.

10. Will I be a competent English teacher by the end of the course?
Due to the high practical content of the TEFL course, all graduates should have the necessary skills, confidence and ability to embark on their teaching careers and work in a professional manner anywhere in the world. All certificate courses for English teachers, however, serve as initial teacher training and those interested in pursuing teaching as a career often go on to take a diploma or MA after 2 years of teaching experience (minimum 2 yrs. for a diploma).  If you're interested and want to teach English in Latin America following your certification, please let us know when you apply for you certification course.

11. Does the TEFL / TESOL course meet international guidelines?
Yes. Whilst there is no true international body for TEFL courses, internationally accepted guidelines state that the course must have 100 hours of input, 6 hours of teaching practice and is externally monitored. Our TEFL / TESOL course has, in fact, 120 hours of input and a minimum of 12 hours teaching practice as well as being externally monitored.  You will be well on your way to teach English in South America after certification!

12. When is the best time to do this TEFL / TESOL course in Buenos Aires?
There really is no best or worst time. Countries in different hemispheres have different academic years and tend to hire year round anyway, on and as needed basis.

13. What are the chances of finding a job to teach English in South America after completing the TEFL / TESOL course in Buenos Aires?
Excellent. At present, there is a shortage of certificate qualified English teachers in Mexico, Central / South America and worldwide. Consequently, the majority of our trainees will have found employment (generally to teach English in Latin America) by the time they have completed the course. The only exceptions tend to be graduates who wish to work in a relatively difficult location (due to demand, timing or regulations). The demand for teachers is so high in many countries, that we are able to offer guaranteed employment on successful completion of the course.

14. Is job placement assistance included?
Yes. All graduates receive individual counseling and assistance with finding a job teaching English in South America (or anywhere for that matter). The TEFL / TESOL trainners will help with all aspects of job seeking from CV/resume construction and interview techniques to arranging job interviews.

15. What standard of accommodation can I expect?

16. Will you help in adapting to the new environment?
Yes.  Social events with locals take place during the course (dance, karaoke, milonga, etc.) and our Student Services Coordinator is always ready to assist you.
